At TWIG, we rely on our partners in Europe and around the world.

We are starting a series of interviews with our partners to discuss their core business, applications, and the solutions they implement using TWIG products.

At our first interview, we spoke with Marc Melzner, CEO of SatMARS Navigations- und Kommunikationssysteme GmbH.

TWIG: How would you best describe your offering in a few sentences, and what makes you so interesting to your customers?
Marc Melzner: Our core competence lies in project business. We tailor our services to the individual needs, wishes, and requirements of our customers. By closely collaborating with insurance companies and certification bodies, we have been setting standards for years, ensuring we are always up to date for our customers in the market.
Our unique combination of comprehensive expertise, individual consulting, and tailored product solutions makes us a particularly attractive partner.

TWIG: Why did you choose TWIG as a partner for your projects?
Marc Melzner: We have been working with TWIG almost since their founding, reflecting a long and successful joint project history. TWIG products are optimally aligned with the requirements of occupational safety, making them perfect for our customers. The TWIG One Ex, in particular, a robust and reliable companion for extreme conditions in ATEX areas, is very popular among our customers and meets their needs perfectly.

TWIG: What three aspects make the cooperation with TWIG so valuable from your perspective?
Marc Melzner: Since we have been working with TWIG for many years, we especially appreciate the consistency and consistent quality of their products. TWIG components are durable and robust, giving us the confidence to always offer top-notch solutions.
Another significant advantage, convincing both us and our customers, is the seamless integration of TWIG devices into our software solution. This integration has been functioning smoothly and without the need for adjustments for years. Our customers greatly value this stability and compatibility, as it ensures continuous and trouble-free use of the products.

TWIG: From your customers' perspective, why do you recommend TWIG components in your projects?
Marc Melzner: First, the high quality of TWIG products is a significant argument. Their reliable function under various conditions is crucial for our customers.
Secondly, the durable design and long lifespan of TWIG devices are convincing. This is particularly important in challenging and demanding work environments where equipment must withstand high stresses. Usage durations of over 10 years for individual devices or the loud signal of TWIG components, which sends a clear and indispensable warning in emergencies, are just two examples.
Finally, the trust we have built in TWIG products over the years and their easy integration into many existing and new environments and systems are other arguments.
TWIG: Do topics like "Made in Europe," short distances, quality, and service play a role?
Marc Melzner: Yes, absolutely! Unfortunately, we are more dependent on reliable supply chains and delivery times nowadays than ever. The data security and data usage are also crucial.
The steady quality and toughness of interfaces, accessories, and other products help us set up and keep the product running smoothly for our customers.
As a German company, we primarily manufacture "Made in Europe" and place great importance on our products coming from Europe. This is also very important to our customers as it ensures fast delivery times and hassle-free service.

TWIG: Which project implemented with TWIG best represents the good cooperation for you?
Marc Melzner: We are currently working on a large project. Many employees in a German city are to be comprehensively equipped with the TWIG Neo for personal security and occupational safety in lone work.
Our challenge was setting up area alarms, which we had not previously mapped with our solution. Through close cooperation with TWIG, we can now ensure the solution works seamlessly and meets the specific needs of the customer. This successful integration once again shows the flexibility and adaptability of both our team and the Finnish colleagues from TWIG. We are confident this project will not only increase the safety and efficiency for the city's employees but also serve as a good pilot for future municipal and regional solutions. The positive feedback from the customer confirms our approach and motivates us to continue developing and implementing innovative solutions.

TWIG: How does this project protect your customers, and what key advantage does your customer gain from this project?
Marc Melzner: In the current project, our requirements go beyond the classic safety alarms triggered by the fall sensor and the SOS button. In addition to these fundamental safety functions, it was particularly important to the customer to comprehensively monitor the use of the devices. Specifically, it had to be ensured that the devices were used in the designated and predefined work environment. To meet this specific need, we developed a solution based on the TWIG Neo and TWIG Point. The implementation of this solution offers the customer not only additional safety but also the assurance that the devices are being used properly and as intended.

TWIG: How has the new solution improved or influenced the efficiency and productivity of employees in the intended work environment?
Marc Melzner: The introduction of the new solution has significantly increased the employees' attention and safety awareness. By consciously using TWIG Point, employees are now better informed and aware of potential safety risks in their work environment. They know they can quickly and easily call for help in an emergency. This increased safety awareness leads to more responsible behavior and reduces the likelihood of accidents and incidents. The solution itself offers the customer more transparency and improved planning capabilities for deploying additional devices. By analyzing the collected data, they can better predict when and where additional resources are needed, leading to optimized use of existing devices and more efficient deployment planning.

TWIG: Do you plan to deepen your cooperation with TWIG in the coming months and years?
Marc Melzner: Absolutely, we are determined to deepen our cooperation with TWIG in the coming months and years. The increasing demand for mobile SOS systems for lone workers in Germany clearly indicates the growing awareness of workplace safety. We see TWIG as a valuable partner who not only provides high-quality products but also actively supports us in adjusting our marketing strategy to best meet this demand. We are convinced that deepening our cooperation with TWIG will create more exciting opportunities to successfully serve the growing market for mobile safety systems. Our joint efforts will help advance standards in safety technology while maximizing customer satisfaction.

TWIG: What do you wish for the future and your upcoming projects from us?
Marc Melzner: We hope TWIG continues to maintain the quality and stability of their products and that future products adapt equally well to the market. In some projects, more customized accessories would be helpful. For larger companies with different departments, for example, individually marked devices would help with inventory and prevent accidental mix-ups.

TWIG: What do you think TWIG still needs to work on?
Marc Melzner: Overall, we are very satisfied, but there is always room for improvement. The operating instructions are good but could sometimes be even better. Quick-start guides or diagrams for the products would be useful. Sometimes our customers find the currently available files too complicated, which can hinder their use and quick start. Clearly structured and understandable instructions ensure the full functionality of the products quickly and easily. We also provide regular feedback on this.

TWIG: Marc Melzner, thank you for the conversation.
Marc Melzner: My pleasure.
