In this interview, we spoke with Nicolas Oszmer, CEO of OSCOM Deutchland e.K.

TWIG: Hello, Nicolas Oszmer! How would you best describe your offerings in a few short sentences, and what makes you so appealing to your customers?
Nicolas Oszmer: OSCOM Deutschland e.K. is well known for its clear focus on lone worker protection, acting as a specialist retailer and system integrator for personal emergency signal solutions.
Manufacturer-independent, neutral, and technology-agnostic—these are the three key attributes that define us at #teamoscom as a specialist provider of consultation, trading, and integration of lone worker protection systems.
As a true family business, we prioritize sustainable and long-term customer relationships, whether in daily operations or in complex, tailor-made lone worker projects. For us, there's no distinction.

TWIG: Why did you choose TWIG as a partner for your projects?
Nicolas Oszmer: As outlined earlier, our portfolio includes a variety of technically and functionally diverse solutions.
Especially in the DIN V VDE 0825-11 context, the trend often leans toward smart devices.
However, our customers continuously show us that lone worker protection doesn’t always depend on combining it with smart devices.
Often, other factors such as user-friendliness, efficient and rapid responses, automatic accident detection, or autonomous system integration without relying on existing communication technology play a significant role.
Expectations around device quality and reliability, cost-effectiveness, and even seemingly simple concerns like wearability and comfort are critical. At these points, TWIG offers a broad and innovative range of solutions that we gladly incorporate into our systems and pass on the benefits to our customers.

TWIG: In terms of advantages, what three aspects make working with TWIG so valuable, beneficial, or fruitful for you?
Nicolas Oszmer: For us, it’s crucial to have the right mix—a combination of reliability, innovation, quality, and service. These parameters align perfectly with TWIG, which is why this partnership continues to thrive successfully.

TWIG: From your customers' perspective, why do you recommend TWIG components in your projects?
Nicolas Oszmer: IT security is a critical topic for most companies today, and the importance of secure data and systems has never been greater.
Our customers bear significant responsibility here, while simultaneously dedicating vital resources to daily operations.
With TWIG’s portfolio, customers don’t need to fear any functional compromises regarding lone worker protection compared to alternative smart system solutions.
Additionally, acquiring TWIG personal emergency signal devices (PNGs) reduces strain on customer IT resources since TWIG solutions don’t rely on customer infrastructure. Unlike some smart device solutions, they don’t require additional management.
Conversely, if customers require integration with existing structures (e.g., using local Wi-Fi networks), that’s entirely possible.
Finally, the high usability of TWIG PNGs ensures strong user acceptance, creating a practical and effective lone worker protection solution.
TWIG: Do topics like “Made in Europe,” short supply chains, quality, and service play a role?
Nicolas Oszmer: Let me put it this way: these "soft" factors are indeed relevant in decision-making and provide key arguments. We value them greatly. In our daily business, they play an even more significant role, especially when considering short supply chains and excellent communication. These benefits ultimately extend to the end customer as well.

TWIG: Which project you’ve implemented with TWIG best demonstrates your successful collaboration?
Nicolas Oszmer: The best part of our job is safeguarding so many amazing customers in various industries and roles. A standout example from recent times is our flagship projects in forestry and technical field service for construction machinery. From the initial consultation and intensive testing phases to final rollout and integration, there was consistent, close collaboration with TWIG to address specific customer needs, ensure logical and efficient system implementation, and embed TWIG hardware into a broader solution concept.

TWIG: How does this project protect your customers, and what is the key benefit for them?
Nicolas Oszmer: Let’s stick with forestry as an example. The key factor for our customers is transitioning technically and organizationally away from the machine to focus on the "mobile" operator’s safety.
Historically, emergency systems were installed on forestry machines, functioning locally within the machine’s cabin. These systems could trigger a manual alarm via a basic signal transmitter, which was limited to static notifications (SMS or UMTS) sent to a service center.
This approach didn’t meet today’s high safety standards under DGUV guidelines and DIN norms for PNA systems.
By switching to our global, integrated solution—approved by insurance providers and with TWIG playing a significant role in emergency device and software structure—users can combine their work on and around machines seamlessly.
We employ various communication channels for alarm transmission, with active voice communication being particularly important. We provide 24/7 alarm monitoring and intervention management.
Additionally, TWIG’s highly configurable devices ensure strong user acceptance, significantly enhancing workplace safety.

TWIG: Are there plans to deepen your collaboration with TWIG in the coming months and years?
Nicolas Oszmer: Given TWIG’s strong commitment to innovation and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers, there’s no reason to slow down. We’re optimistic about further optimizing the share of TWIG solutions in our project business as demand continues to grow.

TWIG: What do you wish for from us in the future and for your upcoming projects?
Nicolas Oszmer: Business is still conducted between people. In an era of high automation and rapid processes, personal interaction should not be overlooked. This was evident during your international partner meeting.
I hope the individual exchanges and the "direct line" to Finland remain intact to further strengthen and expand our collaboration.

TWIG: What do you think TWIG should focus on improving?
Nicolas Oszmer: Definitely the partner portal 😊, but you probably already know that!

TWIG: Nicolas Oszmer, thank you for the interview.
Nicolas Oszmer: You’re welcome!
